Highly Complex Structures

Studies concerning the incus show that especially the cross-section, geometry, and size of the auditory ossicle can vary enormously and be highly complex. Longitudinal perforations in the band of the MatriX Prosthesis ensure that the loop is extremely malleable and easy to model. Consequently, the coupling is simplified significantly and more uniform. From an acoustomechanical viewpoint there should be as little play as possible in the coupling area. A more consistent crimp along with increased surface area helps to ensure that the incoming acoustic signal is conducted to the inner ear with minimal loss.
